Crabtree cricket at it’s bizarre best
Result: Win by 5 runs
Crabtree bat first – Baker and Cole get off to a steady start, with Baker unlucky to lose his wicket on 23. Sear and Cole contributed to the score, but then disaster struck, Jarvis 0, Rawlinson and PV Smith both going for golden ducks – after 10 overs we were struggling on 39 runs. Newton came in and steadied the ship and after hitting 3 monster 6’s he retired. Parkinson and Hale kept the score board ticking over with 10 and 6 respectively. Bowman and Dytham then found themselves at the crease together. Bowman fell cheaply for 1 which enabled Newton to return to the game. Dytham hit a wonderful 6 amongst his total of 12 not out and Newton was eventually caught for 34. Crabtree all out for 109 whilst still in the 19th over.
Final CC got off to a great start and after 6 overs they were 42 for the lose of just 2 wickets – one each for Dytham and Bowman. Parkinson then came on to bowl and had a magical spell of 3 wickets in 3 overs for the lose of only 18 runs. The game was still firmly in the hands of Final CC – they found themselves on 97 for 8 after 17 overs. Then Rawlinson came onto bowl and I can honestly say I have never seen him hit the wicket with such accuracy as he did at any time over the past 10 years. Cole caught a blinder then Rawlinson bowled their last batsman out in the 19th over.
Final CC were all out for 104 in the 19th over – what a game to be involved in.
