In memory of Alan Fensome
Result: Won by 53 runs
CCC 230 for 7 wkts; Manland 177 for 6 wkts: WON by 53 runs.
This match played in memory of Alan Fensome who helped establish Manland CC who were one of the founder clubs of our existing structure. Alan's Family were present to view events and present the trophy at the finish.
Captain Blanchard won the toss and chose to bat on what looked like a very ropey and wet wicket. Luckily the wicket demons did not turn up as we proceeded at a pace which could be described as 'steady'. Wickets were lost a regular intervals and thoughts were turning to perhaps a 150 to 180 score. Then unfortunately for Manland our 'Newton' bomb was unleashed. For the second year in succession Ben scored a magnificent 100 - this time in 48 balls. Having 230 in the bag allowed me to enjoy my tea. A very good tea it was, supplied by the family B. Manland were always going to find chasing 230 a struggle and despite Chesney reaching his own centu ry they were always behind the run rate. A fitting match to end the season.
